Set of three CD chairs by Marcel Gascoin.
This is the most simple model published by Arhec in the 1950’s.
The structure of the chairs is in solid oak, the seats and backs are in 8 mm oak veneered plywood.
Water stains, scratches, some staple marks on the seat and back of one of the chairs (it was probably garnished at some point). One of the backs shows some little white spots, see pictures.

Marcel Gascoin (1907-1986) is one of the key figures of the french Reconstruction. He is one of those young creators who turned their back on Art Deco decorum and campaigned for simple and modular furniture, accessible to the greatest number.
In 1948, in order to produce his own furniture, he creates ARHEC – Aménagement Rationnel de l’Habitation et des Collectivités (Rational Development of Housing and Communities).
